20th Anniversary Celebration at X-Files is Love

Before I even had a chance to put up a notice here, the calender was filled up; however, do not despair, you can still post. There is a pinch hit list. And, Mulder's birthday, October 13th, is designated a free-for-all. Everyone can post on that day, no need for a LJ account! Use your open ID, your Twitter, your Facebook.

This year, to celebrate The X-Files 20th anniversary, in addition to our usual daily members' posts, we are doing a mini-rewatch marathon: two episodes a season, one MOW and one myth-arc, plus the pilot, in 33 days.

To make it easier on us this time around, ruuger and I decided to choose the episodes ourselves; wendelah1 is tackling seasons 1-5, ruuger 6-9. Next year, who knows. The two-part episodes are counted as one for the purposes of this rewatch.

Unsurprisingly, narrowing it down to two episodes a season was hard. Really hard. Here's the list, so you can see for yourselves.

You will notice there's a tbd on October 13. Since we know we left some favorites out, we thought we'd let the community pick the last episode. Scroll down. There's instructions at the end of the post.

Glad to see some XF activity here.

I know. The X-Files fandom is so scattered now and so walled-off. Ruuger posted this at xfiles and got a dozen people to sign up in a day. Another friend posted this same notice at Haven and maybe one person signed up. I don't get it. Haven is huge. They must have ten times the members, although I can't tell how active they all are. Probably the best response I got was posting it to my own journal. Heh. I posted it to tumblr and got a couple of people interested, too.

There are two people who post David and Gillian fan stuff to ONTD at livejournal. And there's the xf_book_club. That's it for active XF communities in journal-based fandom.

I don't know how to change that, or if it's even possible. The people who are at Haven never moved to LJ or DW. They aren't coming out of their cave. The new fans--mostly kids--at Tumblr are perfectly happy reblogging each others graphics and "feels." Who am I to say they're doing it wrong? But I miss discussion. And having a back and forth dialogue at Tumblr is near impossible.

Sorry. Didn't mean to turn this into a rant. Sigh.

I remember Haven from when it was the full site, not just the boards. It was always too crazy with shippers and so I never got involved.

I don't understand Tumblr at all. I never could find a way to respond/comment on there. Maybe there just isn't one. Which is bizarre, since... isn't that what the internet is for, interaction? What do I know? I'm old!

Well, let's face it. XF is an old fandom. I'm amazed there's anything at all left of it after so many years. I am happy for whatever little is still left, until it dries up entirely.
