So, it seems that people are interested in a series of daily challenges during
three_weeks_for_dw. The one issue with this is that, um, that means we need a series of challenges! A couple of people have suggested crowdsourcing this, so I'm turning it to the wisdom of the masses.
I'm trying to come up with a point-scoring system. And, of course, if we want there to be prizes beyond UNDYING FAME AND GLORY, we will need to come up with some. Ideas? Thoughts? I, your intrepid mod, have no artistic skills beyond macro-making; perhaps someone else would like to volunteer their services?
Here are some possible ideas for challenges.
1. Post a prompt on a community flash-fic challenge. (5 pts per prompt, max 10 points)
2. Post a fill for the community flash-fic challenge. (10 points)
3. Post a comment to a fill in the community flash-fic challenge. (5 pts per comment, max 10 points)
4. Post a creative fanwork of any kind (fic, picspam, vid) in your journal, and make a post linking to it on
philedom (10 points)
5. Leave a comment to an X-Files or X-Files crossover fanwork posted to DW sometime in the past year (5 points per comment, max 10 points)
6. Post an XF or XF crossover prompt for a fic-writing meme or challenge somewhere other than
philedom. (5 pts per prompt, max 10 points)
7. Post an XF or XF crossover fill or ficlet for a fic-writing meme or challenge somewhere other than
philedom. (10 points)
8. Post a comment to an XF or XF crossover fill or ficlet for a fic-writing meme or challenge somewhere other than
philedom
9. Post a meta or essay on any X-Files related topic in your journal, and make a post linking to it on
philedom (10 points)
10. Post a recs list for XF fic, vids, or other fannish stuff on your journal, and make a post linking to it on
philedom (10 points)
11. Play in a game of XF quote hangman (2 points per letter guess, right or wrong, 5 points for winning; 10 points max) (we could do this more than once over the 21 days)
12. Play in a game of XF 20 questions (2 points per question, 5 to solve, 10 points max) (like #11, this could be repeated)
And this is where I run out of ideas.
Anybody want to chip in? Or do you think we should do these, interspersed with games of hangman and 20 questions? I'd want to post a schedule in advance, so people could try to arrange to post on the appropriate days--but, especially for the fanworks and comments, early and late posting are acceptable for points.
Thoughts? Ideas?

THAT SAID, is there anything ridiculous we could do? Macro/stanning/crack!flashfic challenge? I also liked the idea of a word cloud.
Maybe everyone could chip in a few points or something as a prize? Or I could just give the community all my points, idk what to do with them. I think this is mostly just about me wanting to get rid of my points. Hay!

I would love to have it be about points! Maybe if a couple of people want to throw a couple of bucks into the pot...

I was thinking about a word cloud and realised I have NO IDEA. Plugging in episodes and seeing what happens? That's not a challenge though, that's just an interesting experience.
I am totally into throwing a couple of bucks in the pot for the sake of funtimes.
Also, what about this? I have absolutely no faith in a 3rd movie ever getting made, but I am so fond of the idea of lots and lots of people talking about/expressing the ways in which X-Files has changed/impacted their lives. Possibly because I am the world's biggest sap, but. Maybe we could do something with it as well?

I don't know what kind of things to hunt for though. (alien, file folder, cross necklace, flashlight, etc.)
Anyway, the stuff you guys have already come up with sounds fun!
